The Eger Bar Association had its statutory meeting on the 14th of February 1875, its first important activity was, however, on the general meeting on the 11th of June 1875 where the first budget had been accepted. The first president of the Eger Bar Assosiation was István Babics, who had won on the election with the program of the free-minded party against Sándor Csiky in 1875 and become member of parliament of the city Eger. By the way, he had been the president of the casino in Eger temporarily as well. The Eger Bar Assosiation had its anniversary general meeting on the 14th of February 1925. On this general meeting the next portion of speech could be heard:  „A bar never wants to let himself leading. He wants to be the leader and his abilities required for this are commonly not missing either. It’s hard to get a company together, even harder to keep it harmonically together where each member is a leader or at least tends to be a leader…”

After the 2nd World War the autonomous bar association gave up and it had been re-founded only on the 14th of January 1956. At this time took place the statutory meeting of the Eger Bar Assosiation that had been re-organised from the bar staff of the county. The first years of the re-founded assosiation of Eger had been characterized by the increase of the number of bar teams and the decrease of the number of bars with self practices. The review in 1958 showed that the number of association members had decreased to 53 persons. From the beginning of the 1970’s on even more madams have chosen to be a bar in this county as well and become members of the association. The association has still a relatively high number of members nowadays and the candidates of law give the half of the total number of members. That’s why the association places emphasis on the adequate regulation of the candidate’s employement and education.

The Heves County Bar Association has already given a lot of significant persons to the jurist society as well as to the country.
